Documentation
Everything OB Commander can be told to do, and where to tell it.
The config file
- All 80+ settings live in a single config.toml sitting next to obcmd.exe. So do the session file and the SQLite cache — the program is portable and writes nothing to the registry.
- Open it from the menu: Configuration → Open config file. Save the file and the running window picks the change up immediately; there is no restart and no OK button.
- If the file is halfway through an edit, or has a syntax error, the program keeps the settings it is already running with — a half-written file never wipes your configuration.
- Delete the file to go back to the defaults.
Configure it with an AI agent
OB Commander has no settings window: everything is in config.toml. The obcmd-config skill teaches coding agents such as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex and Gemini CLI every setting, command and default key. Ask in plain words, for example "switch to the dark theme, make the file list 11 pt, and use F5 to copy and F6 to move", and the agent edits your config.toml, keeps your comments and checks that the file still parses.
Claude Code
/plugin marketplace add kookob/obcommander
/plugin install obcmd@obcommander
OpenAI Codex (PowerShell)
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/kookob/obcommander "$env:TEMP\obcommander"
Copy-Item -Recurse "$env:TEMP\obcommander\skills\obcmd-config" "$HOME\.codex\skills\"
Gemini CLI and other tools
Copy the skills/obcmd-config folder from github.com/kookob/obcommander into the agent's skills folder: ~/.gemini/skills/ for Gemini CLI, or wherever your tool keeps Agent Skills.
The skill follows the open Agent Skills standard, so the same folder works with any compatible tool.
Full reference
The complete reference — every setting with its type and default, the 77 command names usable in [keys], [[menu]] and [[toolbar]], and the placeholders for custom commands — is being prepared for this page. Until it lands, ask on GitHub issues and you'll get an answer.
